Richer Man - David Arthur Brown
Written by:David Arthur Brown
They're downsizing John's department
His hours got cut
But he does the best he can
And who's the richer man
He picked up some work on Tuesdays
Mowing the lawns at a high school in Arlington
And who's the richer man
Oh oh oh oh oh
Who's the richer man
Charles made a lot on Wall Street
He's got a house on the beach
And goes jogging in the sand
And who's the richer man
His girlfriend's just out of high school
She looks like a model
And she's got a lovely tan
And who's the richer man
Oh oh oh oh oh
Who's the richer man
And some they say
That love's the only thing
That drives the fear away
I knew guy who took his life
With 30 million in the bank
When you're laying down to die
And there ain't no one to love you
By your side
And who's the richer man
John camps with his son on weekends
They fish in the river
And eat baked beans from a can
And who's the richer man
His wife likes to watch Sopranos
She cats bowls of ice cream
Fries bananas in a pan
And who's the richer man
Oh oh oh oh oh
Who's the richer man
And some they say
That love's the only thing
That drives the fear away
I knew guy who took his life
With 30 million in the bank
When you're laying down to die
And there ain't no one to love you
By your side
And who's the richer man
Well Charles doesn't see his kids much
They live with his ex
And he gets 'em on odd weekends
And who's the richer man
His girlfriend is off to rehab
His stocks took a tumble
And his drinking took off again
Who's the richer man
Oh oh oh oh oh
Who's the richer man
And some they say
That love's the only thing
That drives the fear away
I knew guy who took his life
With 30 million in the bank
When you're laying down to die
And there ain't no one to love you
By your side
And who's the richer man
